📝 How to Help Your Child Prepare for ACAP
The Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) is a chance for students to show what they’ve learned. ACAP is generally given towards the end of the school year (after Spring Break). Parents can play a big role in helping their child feel confident and ready.
✅ Before the Test
- Get Rest: Make sure your child gets 8–10 hours of sleep each night, especially before testing days.
- Eat a Healthy Breakfast: A balanced meal (protein + fruit) helps with focus.
- Be On Time: Arrive at school on time so your child isn’t rushed or stressed.
- Review Materials: Encourage short review sessions of notes, classwork, or practice tests—but avoid cramming.
✅ Encourage Good Habits
- Practice at Home: Read together, review math facts, or use online practice tools.
- Set Goals: Help your child set a positive goal (e.g., “I will take my time and check my answers”).
- Stay Organized: Keep homework and study areas free from distractions.
✅ Build Confidence
- Encourage a Positive Mindset: Remind your child that the test is just one way to show learning.
- Avoid Stressful Talk: Focus on effort, not perfection.
- Celebrate Small Wins: Praise their hard work and determination.
✅ On Test Day
- Send your child with:
- A water bottle (if allowed)
- Glasses (if needed)
- A smile and encouragement!
Parent Tip: Remind your child, “Do your best, but don’t stress. You’ve got this, Warhawk!”
